Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi played for Porto but ended up on the losing side by losing 2-0 at home to Chelsea in Wednesday’s Champions League first leg.
A goal in each half from Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell ensured a comfortable victory for Thomas Tuchel’s team.
Sanusi came close to opening scoring in the first half after a header from a corner, but couldn’t keep his effort down as he went over the crossbar into the area.
Chelsea took the lead in the 32nd minute after Mount brilliantly turned Sanusi before shooting low into the corner.
And in the 85th minute, Chilwell made it 2-0 after pouncing on an error by a Porto defender, circling the goalkeeper before conceding to empty goal.
And at the Allianz Arena, Champions League winners Bayern Munich lost 3-2 to Paris Saint-Germain.
Kylian Mbappé put PSG ahead on three minutes when he ran towards Neymar’s clever pass before unleashing a shot that Manuel Neuer couldn’t handle properly.
PSG took a 2-0 lead in the 28th minute, this time through Marquinhos, who overcame the offside trap to knock down a brilliant pass from Neymar before shooting at Neuer.
In the 37th minute Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored a goal for Bayern while Thomas Muller equalized in the 60th minute.
But it was PSG who had the last laugh when Mbappé scored his second and PSG’s third in the 68th minute.
The French star ran for a pass, cut inside and fired a low shot between the legs of Jerome Boateng.
