Taiwo Awoniyi was outstanding for Union Berlin, but failed to cap off his impressive performance with a goal as they drew 3-3 at home against Eintracht Frankfurt in Saturday’s Bundesliga game.

Union Berlin took a 2-0 lead early in the game before Frankfurt turned to 3-2.

But a late goal with eight minutes to go saved a point for Union Berlin.

Awoniyi contributed to Union Berlin’s second goal after it was brought down inside the box by Max Kruse’s penalty in the 6th minute.

He had a chance to put Union Berlin ahead 3-0 in the 11th minute when he charged into the box from the right, but was parried by the Frankfurt goalkeeper.

Three minutes later Awoniyi had another chance to extend Union Berlin’s lead, but was once again denied by the Frankfurt goalkeeper, who made a save point-blank.

With two minutes to go in the first half, Awoniyi almost became a supplier as he held the ball with his back to the goal, and fired his teammate who pushed his effort over the crossbar.

The draw halted Union Berlin’s three-game win streak and they are also undefeated in their last nine games (five wins, four draws).

They now occupy the sixth position with 16 points in the Bundesliga table of 18 teams.
