Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has explained why Joe Aribo was left out of the Europa League game against Benfica on Thursday.
Aribo was left out of the team Thursday night when Rangers were forced to draw 2-2 against Benfica at the Ibrox.
In his post-match reaction, Steven Gerrard confirmed that the Nigerian midfielder was left out of the match with stomach problems.
Gerrard said: “He was not feeling well. I had a stomach problem [on Wednesday] night. Hopefully, it will be available over the weekend.
The Rangers chief refuted claims that the player tested positive for COVID-19.
“It is important to say that it is not related to Covid. He came out negative on his test before people started adding two and two. “
