Semi Ajayi scored his first Premier League goal when he scored late to beat West Bromwich Albion a 1-1 draw at Liverpool on Sunday.

Ajayi scored with eight minutes remaining in the game to disallow Sadio Mane’s first goal for the Premier League champions.

The Super Eagles defender rose higher to head home with a cross pass to level the score.

Liverpool took the lead in the 12th minute when a direct ball went through Mane, who cushioned the ball with his chest before letting a volley fly for the first time into the corner.

The Reds suffered another defensive setback when Joel Matip suffered a groin injury and was replaced by Rhys Williams.

Despite the surprising draw, Liverpool remain first in the league standings with 32 points, just three points ahead of Everton.

For West Brom, they are still in the drop zone in 19th position with eight points.
