Semi Ajayi will look to erase his Manchester nightmare when West Bromwich Albion take on Odion Ighalo’s Manchester United at the start of today’s Premier League at Old Trafford.
Aside from the fact that West Brom is looking for his first EPL victory since winning promotion, Ajayi will be eager to get it right on his second visit to Manchester, having sadly lost the first time.
On that occasion, the former defender’s club, Rotherham United, suffered a 7-0 annihilation against Manchester City in an FA Cup third round match at the Etihad Stadium.
Ideally this may have been labeled Ighalo vs Ajayi, but the former has little to no playing time these days at Man United, leaving Ajayi the only Nigerian star to play at Old Trafford.
West Brom has had little luck on both ends of the field since returning to the Premier League, unable to win any of its eight games so far, scoring six goals and conceding an astonishing 17.
Ajayi was impressive in his last game against Tottenham Hotspur, although the Baggies were disappointed by a late defensive error that allowed Harry Kane to win the game 1-0 for the Lilywhites.
While the Red Devils haven’t won in four home games this season, United is expected to end that sorry streak against West Brom, though Ajayi and company. He will hope to get a draw in Manchester.
Ighalo has so far made three appearances in all competitions for United this season but has yet to score or register an assist while compatriot Ajayi has played seven EPL games.
