Following speculation linking Samuel Chukwueze to a transfer in the summer, Villarreal FC coach Unai Emery has revealed that the forward will continue his development at the club.
The 21-year-old has been linked to a summer transfer to England’s Manchester United and Liverpool in recent weeks, following his impressive form with the Yellow Submarines.
Reports from various European tabloids suggested that Manchester United are willing to secure the player’s signing should they fail in their attempt to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
At today’s press conference before Villarreal’s Europa League match against Maccabi Tel Aviv, Emery was questioned by Nigerian journalist Babatunde Ojora about the player’s future.
Unai Emery said: We are happy with “Samu”.
“He is very young and has an exciting future, but first he is with us trying to improve with his performance for us and the national team.”
“In the future he can go, but I think he’s very happy with us, and in every game he plays, he tries to give the best performance.” He said.
Chukwueze recently signed a long-term contract with Villarreal and is believed to be valued at € 71 million by the club.
Chukwueze, ranked among the best young players in Europe, has played seven league games for Villarreal, scored once and also provided three assists.
