Premier League star tests positive for coronavirus

Crystal Palace coach Roy Hodgson has revealed that Ivory Coast forward Wilfried Zaha is isolating himself after testing positive for Covid-19.

Crystal Palace coach Roy Hodgson has revealed that Ivory Coast forward Wilfried Zaha is isolating himself after testing positive for Covid-19.

Zaha was not on the Palace squad for their Premier League match at Burnley on Monday as a result of the illness.

“Unfortunately, it has tested positive for coronavirus, so it is self-isolating and is awaiting the results of the next test,” Hodgson said.

“He does not feel particularly ill, but unfortunately the test came back positive and he is following procedures.”

Zaha’s absence is a serious blow to Palace after their good start to the season.

The 28-year-old has scored five goals and provided two assists for Hodgson’s team.

He was scheduled to make his 200th Premier League appearance in Burnley’s match, but will be out of the game for the duration of his quarantine.
