Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has criticized his club’s grueling schedule.
Speaking ahead of City’s UCL match against Olympiakos, he said:
“Every season is a disadvantage with the rest of the leagues, this league. Not only in this special year, last season and this season for Covid-19, for that we have had to adapt ”.
“But even when the situation is normal, there are no winter holidays, many games, many competitions, the intensity, the weather conditions, the fields, many, many things. That is attractive, that is the challenge ”.
Guardiola believes that the lack of a winter break and a tight match roster already makes it difficult for Premier League clubs to win the Champions League.
The continuous injuries of important players do not help either. Manchester City will finally have a full squad next week.
Pep has spoken many times before about the lack of rest of the players. Fellow directors Jurgen Klopp and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have also spoken on this topic.
Manchester City only need one point to qualify for their eighth consecutive knockout stage appearance. They will also be motivated to maintain their perfect European record this season.
