Many Nigerian players sold their wares over the weekend and performed well abroad as the action continued in different European competitions.s.

Topping the Nigeria team of the week are Simy Nwankwo, Semi Ajayi, Daniel Akpeyi, Wilfred Ndidi and the unknown Fortune Omonuware.

Here’s FCniaja’s team of the week in a 4-3-3 formation.

Daniel Akpeyi – Kaizer Chiefs

The Super Eagles goalkeeper was impressive in Kaizer Chiefs’ 2-1 win over Cape Town City in the DSTV South Africa Premiership clash at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.

The 34-year-old goalkeeper had a good start and saved the team countless times on a day that claimed his third win of the season.

Akpeyi made a total of six saves in the game to help the Kaizer Chiefs climb eight spots on the record.

Abdullahi Shehu – Omonia Nicosia

Former Kano Pillars played a decisive role when Omonia Nicosia beat Ethnikos Achnas 2-0 in the Cyprus First Division match at GSP Stadium.

Shehu appeared throughout the duration with Omonia Nicosia, league leader three-point drift, Apollon Limassol.

Felix Agu – Werder Bremen

It was a dream start for the German-born Nigerian left-back, who scored his first Bundesliga goal on Saturday to help his Werder Bremen side to an impressive 2-0 home win over Augsburg.

The 21-year-old is still very fit to play for the Nigerian Super Eagles in the senior category.

After a goalless first 45 minutes, Czech Republic defender Theodor Gabre Selassie opened the scoring for the hosts with six minutes left in regulation before Agu made it 2-0 three minutes later with a fine shot for seal the 3 spots for the host.

Semi Ajayi – West Brom

The former Arsenal defender scored again and was outstanding as West Bromwich Albion edged local rivals Wolves 3-2 in the ‘Black Country Derby’.

It was his team’s only second win since their return to the Premier League and it raised their hopes of escaping relegation.

Ajayi has been one of the bright lights for West Brom in recent games with his goal against the Wolves his third in the last six games.

William Troost-Ekong – Watford

The Super Eagles vice captain played all 90 minutes for Watford in a 2-0 win over Huddersfield at Vicarage Road Stadium that climbed to fifth place in the Sky Bet Championship.

Troost-Ekong and Francisco Sierralta kept a clean sheet in their 13 league games of the season since joining Hornet from Udinese.

Wilfred Ndidi – Leicester City

The Super Eagles midfielder was there from start to finish, as Leicester City proved they can still fight for the title after their hard-fought 2-0 victory at King Power.

The impressive Ndidi had a game rating of 7.4, winning 13 games, making 3 punts, 5 tackles and also completing 70% of his passes.

John Obi Mikel – Stoke City

The former Super Eagles captain was in action for Stoke when the 10-man Potters played a 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers.

Mikel made all 17 of his Sky Bet Championship appearances and the result means Stoke is still eighth, four points behind a playoff spot.

Nonso Madueke – PSV

The former Tottenham Hotspur trainee continues to cause a sensation with another impressive performance from PSV in a 5-3 away win over Sparta Rotterdam Eredivisie.

Madueke scored in the 49th minute after he bumped past Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye to bring his goal share for the season to 14 (7 goals, 7 assists) out of 22 games in all competitions.

Godwin Savior – Casa Pia

The former Nigeria U23 star was the match winner for the Portuguese club, Casa Pia, to win at Varzim and climb to the top half of the Portuguese second division.

It was his third goal in eight appearances for the Lisbon team.

Simy Nwankwo – Crotone

The great striker was Man of the Match with two goals in open play and an assist for Crotone to beat Benevento 4-1 in the continuation of Serie A.

Nwankwo has already scored six goals in 18 games this season.

Sadiq Umar – UD Almeria

The fit forward scored a double to propel UD Almería to the knockout stages of the Copa del Rey with a great victory over Alavés.

The former Roma striker has already scored 11 goals in all competitions since arriving in Spain in the summer from Serbia.
