Tottenham forward Dane Scarlett has become the youngest player to join the club after appearing in the win over Europa League opponents Ludogorets.
It was a memorable night for the Spurs youth, with Alfie Whiteman, Harvey White and Scarlett all presented for their debuts at the end of the day at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Scarlett, 16 years and 247 days old, became the youngest player to join the club when she replaced Moura in the 82nd minute, beating John Bostock’s previous record set in 2008.
He nearly scored two minutes later, but Plamen Iliev was quick to save after the U-18 forward brilliantly controlled Winks’ pass.
It was also a brilliant cameo for White, who has been in and around the senior setup since the summer of 2019 and caught the attention of Mourinho and his predecessor Mauricio Pochettino.
Mourinho said: “When I played with Dane, I didn’t know he was the youngest. It’s something good.
“He had a good preseason with us, it was a good experience for him at 16 to have a preseason with the first team.
“He played a few minutes in some of our preseason games. Of course he went back to his team. Train with them.
“Yesterday when I felt that there was room for another young player in the squad, I did not decide it myself, I asked my football director and I asked the academy director and they contacted all the coaches.
“Of course there are some names, especially the under-18s because they are doing very well. They gave me his name and since I already knew him I thought that if the opportunity arose it would be a good opportunity for me and a good feeling for everyone at the academy ”.
