Defender Ifeanyi Anaemena said Rivers United is ready for the game against Futuro Kings of Equatorial Guinea in the first leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup on Saturday.
Rivers United departed from the Nigerian coast aboard a chartered flight from Port Harcourt to Malabo, before heading to Mongomo, the party’s headquarters.
Coach Stanley Eguma and his technical team brought a total of 20 players and backroom staff into a showdown in a bid for positive results before the second leg in Nigeria.
The Pride of Rivers had their first official training session at the Mongomo Stadium (site of Saturday’s game) on Friday afternoon.
In a chat with brila.net from the team’s camp this morning, defender Ifeanyi Anaemena said the team is ready for the game.
“We are preparing for today’s game and we are confident of the good results,” he said.
It’s going to be a good season for us and it’s our first outing to the continent this season. “
“By God’s grace we will get good results and hopefully finish the job in Nigeria.”
“Continental matches are very important to us, so we aim for qualification to the next preliminary and hopefully to the group stage,” he concluded.
Saturday’s game will start at 3:30 pm local time (4 pm Nigerian time).
