Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona is said to have died after suffering a heart attack.
South American media Clarín said the 60-year-old man died in hospital on Wednesday.
Maradona, who has struggled with health problems in recent years, underwent brain surgery last month.
The former Barcelona star was photographed in recent weeks after surgery, reportedly in recovery.
Maradona won the 1986 World Cup with Argentina and is considered arguably Argentina’s best player.
Crowds of fans flocked to an Argentine hospital in recent weeks to wish their hero the best as he struggled to survive brain surgery.
They appeared with flags and banners, while chanting his name in support.
Maradona only turned 60 last week, but suffered a torrid birthday when he saw Gimnasia, the Argentine team of which he was coach, but which suffered from health problems and had to be escorted from the bench.
He also surprised fans by appearing at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, being held back by close friends while watching the event in Moscow.
