Chelsea defender Recce James has revealed the impact of Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva on his game.
James is of the opinion that the signing of the two stars has been an immense advantage for him, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard sanctioned the signing of the two players.
Ziyech, 27, was signed from Ajax for £ 35m, while Silva, 36, joined a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.
“Thiago has brought a lot of experience,” James said of the center-back during an interview with The Atheltic. “I have played alongside him a few times. It has helped me a lot.
“You can see immediately why he has been one of the best in the world.
“He talks to me constantly during games, helps me in my positioning, guides me and makes sure that he talks to me before, during and after games.
“It all adds up and improves performance.”
James also acknowledges that he has already laid the groundwork for a profitable partnership with Ziyech, who plays opposite him on the right wing.
He added: “Later on, there have been signs with Hakim in training. Since he arrived we have gotten along well.
“I knew I would be playing behind him. We clicked early and tried to build this connection in training to use this season. His left foot is unbelievably good. “
Lampard is not surprised to have seen James and Ziyech complement each other so early in their partnership, and recently said: ‘That was part of my thinking when Hakim Ziyech came to the club, the balance of the sides of the field is very important to us.
“We knew the quality of Reece last year in terms of crossing.
“And when you think that you can have a winger in front of him that can offer different angles and combinations on that side to get the ball into the box, then I think it can be one of our strengths.”
Next up for Chelsea is the clash against Newcastle United in the Premier League at St James’ Park.
