Cameroonian Descent Set To Break Celestine Babayaro’s 26-Year-Old UCL Record

The relegation of Cameron Youssoufa Moukoko is set to break Celestine Babayaro’s 26-year Champions League record ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s clash with Club Brugge at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night.

Moukoko, who turned 16 on Friday, came on as a substitute in Borussia Dortmund’s 5-2 win over Hertha Berlin, becoming the youngest player to play in the Bundesliga.

Moukoko could break Super Eagles legend Babayaro’s 26-year record when the former Chelsea left-back was 16 years and 87 days old when he started for RSC Anderlecht against FC Steaua Bucureşti on November 23, 1994.

However, Moukoko will turn 16 years and four days tomorrow and could replace Babayaro as the youngest player to appear in the UEFA Champions League if he appeared against Club Brugge on Tuesday night. Moukoko does not play Club Brugge, he has another chance to break Babayaro’s record if he is selected against Lazio (December 2) or Zenit Saint Petersburg (December 8).
