Bayern Coach Flick Urges Sane To Give More

While he’s prepared to be patient, Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick is eager to see an improvement from Leroy Sane.

Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick wants to see more of Leroy Sane but said the attacker needed time.

Since joining Bayern from Manchester City for around € 45m earlier this year, Sane has scored five goals and provided two assists in nine games.

The attacker missed most of the 2019-20 season with City after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

While Flick is eager for Sane to get better, he is also prepared to be patient with the 24-year-old after his injury.

“He is 100% fit. Its efficiency is great, “he said at a press conference.

“But like other players, he unnecessarily fumbled the ball a couple of times against Salzburg and, in some cases, he didn’t go head-to-head. There are reasons for this and we talk about it. Will try to do better next time.

“When he enters the field, he creates a certain dynamic in the team, he increases it. In the last two games he has always scored after being a substitute. That is what makes it stand out and it has quality.

“It is obvious that he still needs time after a long injury, and he will succeed. Work hard in training.

“We are happy with him, but it is important that when a game starts, he gives 100 percent. We are working on that.”

In six Bundesliga games, three of which have started, this season, Sane has scored three goals and provided two assists.

It has also created four great opportunities. Only Thomas Muller (six), Serge Gnabry, Admir Mehmedi and Raphael Guerreiro (all five) have created more.

However, his large chance conversion percentage is 50 percent, while he has only completed seven of 20 dribble attempts.

Bayern, leaders of the Bundesliga by one point ahead of Dortmund and Leverkusen, will visit Stuttgart on Saturday.
