Barcelona presidential candidate rules out Neymar return

Neymar is set to return from injury for Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 on Friday with a view to facing RB Leipzig in a crucial Champions League match next week, the club said.

Barcelona’s presidential candidate Toni Freixa says he doesn’t believe in the abilities of Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar.

Neymar has been linked to a future return to the Spanish giants since leaving the Camp Nou in 2017.

Currently, statements are being made about future signings and appointments as several people are betting on his claim to replace Josep Maria Bartomeu.

However, despite Neymar’s position at Barcelona, Freixa has stated that he has no intention of trying to secure a reunion with the 28-year-old.

Speaking to Cadena SER, Freixa said: “Neymar, due to his performance, is not even among the 30 best players in Europe at the moment. If he were president, I wouldn’t sign him.

“The most important thing about Barcelona is Barcelona itself. We are not dependent on anyone ”.

Currently, PSG is trying to extend Neymar’s contract beyond the end of the 2021-22 season.
