Aruna Quadri records third league victory with TTC in German Bundesliga

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Men's World Cup served its first turns on Friday, November 13 and there was a shocking defeat for Nigeria's best table tennis player, Quadri Aruna, who was defeated by Slovenian Darko. Jorgic.

Aruna Quadri returned to winning ways with TTC RhönSprudel Fulda-Maberzell (TTC) in the Table Tennis Bundesliga, as the Nigerian was instrumental in his team’s 3-1 victory over TTC OE Bad Homburg at the end of week.

Quadri, who participated in two of the ITTF restart tournaments in China last week, was in good shape in TTC’s third home win as the team moved up to ninth in the 12-team league in Germany. .

With the match played behind closed doors, it was the German international Ruwen Filus who started the TTC day against Lev Katsman who after taking a 2-0 Filus was left behind to allow the visitor to draw 2-2.

But Filus used his experience to land a deciding 11: 6 set and put TTC in front with a 3-2 victory (11-6, 11-9, 9-11, 9-11, 11-6).

Fan Bo Meng was unable to extend the lead in the match against Rares Sipos and despite three tight sets, Meng was clearly beaten 0: 3 (9-11, 10-12, 7-11) on points, although Meng could have scored the points for himself in the first two sets. The Romanian in the service of Bad Homburg, however, kept the advantage.

However, the most unequal duel of the day was between Quadri and Maksim Grebnev. Aruna had her problems especially in the first and last sets, so Grebnev led by three points in some cases.

However, especially in fast rallies, Quadri showed his quality, so the Nigerian was finally able to win the tight duel 3-0 (11-8, 11-5, 11-9) and lead TTC back to the lead.

And in the fourth match between Filus and Sipos, the experienced German turned out to be the one with the strongest nerves. Filus started furious with a 6: 0, finally decided the set with 11: 5 to win the duel with 3: 2 (12-14, 11-7, 11-6, 7-11, 11-5) to hand over to TTC to 3-1 victory.

“We knew it was a very, very important game for us. For me it was two fighting games. Mentally I had to throw it all away and show a fighting spirit. I think I did it and that was the success, ”said TTC match winner Filus after the game.

An emotional Quadri described the victory as crucial, as the team hopes to win their home games, especially without the presence of their fans.

“I am happy to have returned with a victory after more than four weeks I left the team due to the ITTF Restart tournament in China. I’m really looking forward to our next home game, ”said the Nigerian.

TTC’s next game is Friday against the TTC Grenzau drawbridge.
