Striker Emmanuel Dennis has been ruled out of Nigeria's African Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone.

Striker Emmanuel Dennis has been ruled out of Nigeria’s African Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone.

Dennis was ruled out for Tuesday’s game as a result of a knee injury he sustained in training.

The 23-year-old’s injury is a major blow to Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr, who will also be without Victor Osimhen for the clash at Siaka Stevens Stadium.

Osimhen suffered a shoulder injury during Nigeria’s first leg AFCON qualifier against Sierra Leone and has returned to Italy for further treatment.

Rohr now stays with Paul Onuachu and Kelechi Iheanacho to select on Tuesday.

Nigeria leads Group L with 7 points, one ahead of second-placed Republic of Benin, while Sierra Leone and Lesotho occupy third and fourth places.
