Yuletide: FRSC assures safety in Imo

The Federal Highway Traffic Safety Corps (FRSC) said it had deployed no less than 1,500 of its personnel to provide security during the Edo gubernatorial election on September 19.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, yesterday assured road users in the state of Imo of their safety during the Christmas celebration in the state.


The commander of the Imo state sector, Mr. Roland Onamusi, spoke in Owerri, while marking the security campaign of the month of the embers 2020 together with other security agencies in the state.

However, he said that to achieve this, motorists must comply with traffic rules and regulations.

According to Onamusi, who said briefly: “The state of our roads and other public services, as well as the demands on our health facilities, are issues that have a socio-economic and psychological impact on all of us.

“Travel that is normally expected to be simple turns out to be disastrous, and this safety campaign is a wake-up call for all Nigerians to ensure our roads are safe.

“We are aware of the traffic challenges associated with the Christmas season, we are ready to do our best to ensure an accident-free society, but drivers must be cautious and obey traffic rules.”

Others who joined the banner of the security campaign were Enugu Zone Commander, Mr. Owoimaha Udoma, Police Commissioner Isaac Akinmoyede, NSCDC Command Commander Imo, Mr. Danjuma Elisha and Deputy Controller of Immigration, Nkechi Ugwu, as well as the representative of the government of the state of Imo, the Commissioner of Transport, Rex Anunobi, among others.
