Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington struck hard on Tuesday morning, November 24, after seeing a photo shared by Presidential aide Lauretta Onochie of children wearing cardboard paper as face masks.
Onochie shared the photo above on her Twitter account as she asked Nigerians to make sure they wear face masks.
“WEARING A MASK IS NOT A POLITICAL STATEMENT. IT IS NOT PUNISHMENT ON THE PART OF THE GOVERNMENT PROTECT YOURSELF. Wear one. These have made efforts to mask where those of us who are most vulnerable and susceptible to COVID-19 still swear it is a scam. God bless your efforts. “
Adesua saw the photo of the little children and got angry. In reaction to Onochie’s post, Adesua wrote;
“You are a disgrace. Both at home and abroad. You should be ashamed that these children have to do this with cardboard. Instead of talking about how to tackle poverty so that they can properly protect themselves against the virus, you are spitting this nonsense.
This image made me very angry and made me cry. They are so small, so vulnerable and so unprotected. Arghhhhhh. THIS COUNTRY
I finally accept the fact that some human beings really are dead inside. He didn’t understand how that could be possible. Every day I realize that it is. “
