Drama at the University of Ibadan as non-academic staff celebrate Bursa’s departure

There was mild drama at the University of Ibadan when non-academic staff members celebrated the departure of the institution’s Michael Alatise scholarship.

A video posted by Galaxy TV on Friday, November 20, shows union leaders and members in front of the Treasurer’s office with brooms, bells, other items, chanting and chanting various slogans.

It was deduced that after the celebration, the former Treasurer’s office was swept with brooms.

According to a journalist, Kunle Ojo, who witnessed the incident, members of SSANU and NASU described the treasurer’s mandate as unpleasant and added that it made the institution not to lead non-academic unions.

President of Saanu, University of Ibadan, Wale Akinremi said the treasurer, a former member of the Union, neglected members of his constituency while in office, adding that he contributed to the failure of the outgoing administration of Professor Idowu Olayinka.

Other members of the non-academic unions said the treasurer’s departure marked the end of tyranny and hostility at the institution and called on other senior leaders of the institution to learn from the way the unions have treated him.
