Senate, confirmed on Tuesday the former chief of the Army General Staff, Tukur Buratai; the former Chief of Defense Staff, Gabriel Olonisakin; the former Chief of Air Staff, Ibok Ibas; and the former Chief of the Naval General Staff, Abubakar Sadique as non-professional ambassadors.
President Buhari sent their names to the Senate on February 5 to be confirmed as non-career ambassadors.
The Nigerians had condemned their nomination, pointing out that it was a scheme to protect them from prosecution by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for atrocities and rights abuses committed by the Nigerian military under their supervision.
