President Buhari Makes New Appointments

President Buhari has made new appointments at his next level of administration.

Nigeria online news reports that President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday asked the Senate to confirm Farouk Aminu’s appointment as a full-time commissioner of the National Pension Commission.

This online news outlet reported that the request for the appointment of President Buhari was contained in separate letters read on the floor during Tuesday’s plenary session by Senate President Ahmad Lawan.

Umaru Farouk Aminu as a full-time Commissioner representing the Northwest Geopolitical Zone in the National Pension Commission.

The request, according to the President, was in accordance with the provision of Section 19 (3) of the Pension Reform Act of 2014.

In another letter dated November 5, 2020, President Buhari requested the confirmation of seven nominees as president and members of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities.

The letter reads: “In accordance with the provision of Section 32 (2) of the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act, 2019, OR write to submit for confirmation by the Senate, the following seven (7 ) candidates for President and members of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities ”.

The nominees listed include the Hon. Dr. Hussaini Suleiman Kangiwa, President (Northwest); Oparakau Onyejelam Jaja (Southeast); Philomena Isioma Konwea (South-South); Omopariola Busuyi Oluwasola (southwest); Amina Rahma Audu (Northwest); Ms. Esther Andrew Awu (North Center); and Abba Audu Ibrahim (northeast).
