The police inspector reportedly killed security guard Gbaraka in Rivers.

Nigeria online news reports that homicide detectives in Rivers are investigating the circumstances that led to the murder of Gospel Gbaraka, a private security guard at the hands of Inspector James, a naval police officer, Sunday morning in Port Harcourt.

This online news outlet learned that the late Gbaraka was working as a security guard with Prodentia Guides Limited, Port Harcourt and the trigger-happy marine police officer was also linked to the same company.

The traumatized father of the deceased, Mr. Innocent Gbaraka, said that his late son was his only hope.

He regretted that he managed to train him at Polytechnic only to have his life cut short by the happy police trigger.

He asked the police authority to guarantee justice in the matter.

Furthermore, the elder brother of the deceased, Emmanuel Gbaraka, called on the inspector general of police, the police commissioner and well-meaning Nigerians to ensure that justice is served in the matter.

Additionally, a right-wing advocacy group, the Center for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, has called for an immediate and impartial investigation into the incident to unravel the circumstances that led to the dead man’s shooting death.

The group’s secretary, Prince Wiro, called on the police authority to ensure that the investigation is concluded in record time and that any culprits face the law.

However, our correspondent concluded that the inspector has been detained at the headquarters of the Divisional Police at Mile One, Diobu Port Harcourt.

The matter would be transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation, SCID.
