State Police Public Relations Officer PPRO Orlando Ikekwo explained this in his statement to reporters in Owerri, the capital of Imo state.

Chiji Collins and the subsequent election of the new speaker, Rt. Hon Paul Emeziem, members of the House moved to Government House to introduce the new speaker to the Governor.

“He further said that one of the members of the house, Hon Cyriacus Okoro ‘m’ appeared in the company of four (4) of his assistants, armed with a dagger hitherto hidden in a cane and stones, and attacked the Vice President, Rt. Hon. Amarachi Iwuanyanwu.

“In the process he injured a Fahad Bature ‘m’, an operative from the Department of State Security (DSS) and an Uzoigwe Emmanuel, a driver attached to the government house.

“According to the report, Police Commissioner CP Isaac O. Akinmoyede ordered an investigation into the matter, at the end of which the suspects were tried in court.”
