Express Entry, Labor Impact, and Business Impact candidates are one step closer to permanent residency on PNP Draw For Permanent Resident Visa.

Nigeria online news reports that Prince Edward Island held its last immigration draw on November 19.

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominees Program (PEI PNP) issued a total of 254 invitations. The majority of the invitations, 221, were for Express Entry and Labor Impact candidates. Business Impact candidates took home the remaining 33, provided they had a minimum threshold of 92 points.

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) allow Canadian provinces and territories to select immigration candidates that meet their labor market needs. They are sometimes aligned with Canada’s federal Express Entry system.

PEI fast entry category

The PEI PNP Express Entry Category is an enhanced PNP, which means that it works within the Canadian government Express Entry system.

Express Entry handles applications for three categories of economy class immigration: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.

Eligible candidates are given a Comprehensive Classification System (CRS) score for their age, work experience, education, and language proficiency in English and French.

Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points towards their CRS score, and are effectively guaranteed an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry drawing.

To be considered for a PEI provincial nomination, Express Entry candidates must create an EOI profile with PEI PNP.

EOI profiles receive points based on the province’s single point grid. The highest scoring candidates are then invited to apply through monthly drawings.

The PEI PNP did not provide a breakdown of how many Express Entry and Labor Impact candidates were invited, nor the minimum EOI score required for each category.

Labor impact category

The Labor Impact Category is for foreign nationals who have a valid job offer in PEI and have the support of their employer. It is divided into three streams: skilled worker, critical worker and international graduate.

Candidates in this category must also submit an EOI profile to be considered for a provincial nomination through the Labor Impact Category.

Business impact category

The 33 candidates who were invited through the Business Impact Category on November 19 needed a minimum EOI score of 92. These invitations were issued under the Work Permit, which is for foreign entrepreneurs who wish to own and operate a business in PEI .
