More bodies have been recovered from the Borno massacre.
Nigeria online news understands that some thirty-eight more bodies have been recovered from the site of Saturday’s attack on farmers by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno state, sources told SaharaReporters.
The dead were slaughtered on a rice plantation in the village of Kwashabe, about 20 kilometers north of Maiduguri. Insurgents were also said to have destroyed the rice plantation after killing the farmers.
Defense Headquarters had claimed that only 43 people were killed, but a source told SaharaReporters that the death toll had risen to 81 when search and rescue teams recovered 38 more bodies on Monday.
He said: “The army prevented us from capturing the scene with our phones; they know what they are doing and they know they will be exposed. Today alone, 38 bodies were recovered and will continue tomorrow.
“What happened here was a human harvest, not a massacre, the media and the government simply lie. They didn’t even talk about the agricultural products and the rice plantation that was razed by Boko Haram. Some bodies can never be recovered because the running water has gone with them. “
The Massacre of the Rice Farmers attracted convictions and some Nigerians called on President Muhammadu Buhari to remove the country’s service chiefs and reforming Nigeria’s security architecture.
