The result of the ASUU meeting with FG has emerged.

As previously reported by NewsOnline Nigeria, parliament is expected to address several outstanding issues, including the union’s preferred contentious payment platform.

Let us remember that ASUU had opposed the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System used by the FG to settle workers’ wages and, instead, developed the University Transparency and Responsibility Solution that is currently being tested by the National Development Agency of Information Technology.

The Nigerian Universities Senior Staff Association and the Non-Academic Staff Union had also proposed the University General and Peculiar Personnel and Payroll System instead of IPPIS.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Labor and Employment, Charles Akpan, had revealed in a text message on Wednesday that the dialogue with ASUU leaders would take place in the minister’s conference room.

The government said it agreed to pay N30bn of Accrued Academic Allowance, N20b for the revitalization of the education sector and salary arrears to university professors, adding that the only outstanding issue was the disagreement over the payment platform.

But ASUU insisted that the government has not complied with its demands, noting that a resolution to the eight-month strike was not in sight.
