Obasanjo, Ooni, Sultan, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Onaiyekan, others keep mum after 8-hour closed-door meeting

The Committee for Kindness of Nigeria (CGN) meeting was held behind closed doors in Abuja on Thursday.

The CGN is a coalition that included the Interface Initiative for Peace led by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and the former Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, John Cardinal Onaiyekan; National Peace Committee under the leadership of the former military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar and the Sociocultural Consultative Committee led by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

The eminent Nigerians met behind closed doors in the Transcorp Hilton conference room.

Other attendees at the meeting were the Ooni from Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; the Etsu Nupe, Dr. Yahaya Abubakar; the former Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Kanu Agabi; Chief Tunde Fasawe, former Minister of Agriculture and Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum, Chief Audu Ogbeh (ACF).

Also seen at the meeting were the President of the Nigerian Labor Congress, Ayuba Wabba, and the President of Ohanaeze Ndi’gbo, Professor Ralph Obiozor.

The eminent Nigerians declined to comment at the end of the closed-door meeting that lasted more than eight hours.

No statement was issued at the end of the meeting, but CGN spokesman Ahmed Magaji told reporters that a statement would be issued. However, it was not published last night as of press time.

Checks revealed that eminent Nigerians have scheduled a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari. When asked to confirm the date of the hearing with President Buhari, Chief Ogbeh said “a time has not been set yet.”
