The Union of Academic Personnel of Universities, (ASUU) denied claims to suspend the ongoing strike as previously circulated in the media.
Contrary to reports circulated in the media yesterday, after a meeting that had just ended on Friday the 27th, the union denied having made such an assertion.
ASUU President Professor Biodun Ogunyemi, speaking with Vanguard, denied having knowledge of any agreement to suspend the strike.
However, he stated that the union had an in-depth discussion on a number of issues related to the ongoing strike and its agreement with the Federal Government of Nigeria.
“I am not aware of that. All I know is that we had a meeting and we are going to inform our members. But I don’t know about the suspension of the strike. “ Professor Ogunyemi said.
Meanwhile, Senator Chris Ngige told reporters after the meeting that, “Many issues were discussed at the meeting, including the salary deficit, the pay system and the revitalization of the university system. I am sure that all problems will be resolved at our next meeting. “
