The 81st Nigerian Army Division, Victoria Island, Lagos, has said it will investigate the alleged assault of a woman, Olaide Oluwo by soldiers in the Sangotedo Area of Ajah.
According to a video shared online, Olaide said she was assaulted by military personnel on Wednesday. The victim, who was running an errand around 5 p.m., said her only offense was ignoring the soldiers, who felt entitled to greetings from passersby.
The victim and his friends took to social networks to share the experience, while demanding justice.
Reacting to the viral video, Acting Army Public Relations Officer Major Osoba Olaniyi said the incident is being investigated.
“I wish to inform everyone that a proper investigation will be conducted and appropriate action will be taken accordingly.” The soldier “was a Navy personnel,” he added.
