Nigerian Army And Navy Promote Senior Officers

Senior officers serving in the Nigerian Army and Air Force have been promoted.

This comes after the Boards of the Nigerian Army (NA), Nigerian Air Force (NAF), and Nigerian Navy (NN) gave their approval.

The military service boards are chaired by Defense Minister Maj. Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd).

A meeting on the elevation was held at the Abuja Defense Ministry on Wednesday, PRNigeria reports. The meeting of the board was attended by the Chief of the Army General Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, the Chief of the Naval General Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas, the Chief of the Air General Staff (CAS), Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, their respective military secretaries and other senior officials. Promoted Army personnel are in the ranks of Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel, Brigadier General, and Major General in the NA.

The levels are equivalent to Commander, Captain, Commodore and Rear Admiral in the NN, and Wing Commander, Group Captain, Air Commodore and Air Vice Marshal in the NAF. On Thursday, the Nigerian Navy issued a statement on the lifting of 203 naval officers.

A total of 122 lieutenant commanders were promoted to the rank of commanders, 38 commanders to captains. Additionally, 24 captains were promoted to the rank of Commodore flag, while 19 Commodore are now of the rank of Rear Admiral flag.
