Man killed, others injured in Osun cult clash

An unidentified man died while many suffered injuries during a cult clash for territorial supremacy in Sabo to the Abaku area of ​​Osogbo in Osun state on Friday.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was shot and killed Thursday night around Sabo.

It was revealed that the rival cult group around 6:30 a.m. Friday resurfaced and killed two men and shot another in the leg.

Cultists on Friday morning, it became known, ordered the market women to close their shops and threatened to attack again.

Journalists visiting the area on Friday noted the activities of men from the Nigerian Army, the Osun Joint Task Force, the police and the Amotekun corps who set up barricades and restored normalcy to the area.

Yemisi Opalola, who contacted the public relations officer of the police in Osun state, told reporters on Saturday that some rival cult groups apparently vying for territorial supremacy clashed with dangerous weapons in the areas. of Sabo and Ammadiyyah of Osogbo.

He claimed that a combined security team that included the police, the JTF and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) responded quickly and “dispersed the thugs.”
