Man Dumps Sack Of Ammunition In Anambra, Flees

A middle-aged man started walking after abandoning a bag of weapons when he spotted a team of police officers in Anambra state.

But one suspect, Chibuzor Collins, 23, was arrested in the Oba area of ​​the state, reportedly with a locally made loaded double-barreled weapon.

Collins, who hails from Imo State, was detained by a police patrol team during stop-and-search operations in the area.

The anonymous man with the ammunition sack was arrested on Owerri Road by Obodoukwu Junction.

Police said the must-have bag from Ghana contained 17 rounds of 7.25x61mm live ammunition, a bomb-action pistol and a magazine.

Spokesperson Haruna Mohammed confirmed both incidents and said Collins was assisting them with useful information in their investigations while efforts were being made to arrest the fleeing suspect.

He said: “On 11/25/2020 around 12:30 pm, the police patrol team attached to the Federal Highway Patrol Command while on stop and search operations in Oba along Onitsha / Owerri Road intercepted a shuttle bus with one of the occupants, namely 23-year-old Chibuzor Collins behaving suspiciously.

“Following a search for the suspect, a locally made double-barreled weapon loaded with two active cartridges was recovered from him.

“The suspect was arrested immediately and is helping the police with useful information to unravel his motive for being in possession of a firearm inside a shuttle bus, after which he would be brought to justice.

“In a related event, on 11/24/2020 at around 80:30 pm, the police patrol team attached to the Okpoko Division while patrolling along the Owerri road through the Obodoukwu junction intercepted a middle-aged man old man carrying a Ghana bag.

“When confronted, the man abandoned the bag and escaped between vehicles. After searching the bag, a G3 rifle containing seventeen rounds of 7.25x61mm live ammunition, a pump-action pistol and a magazine was recovered. “
