Kogi Bread Levy/Tax: Yahaya Bello Turning Bread Into Stone – Shehu Sani

On Friday, Senator Shehu Sani criticized Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello for the latter’s new tax on every loaf of bread sold in the state, Igbere TV reports.

Sani, who has been highly critical of the Congress of All Progressives, the party Bello belongs to, said in a tweet that the governor was turning bread to stone after appearing to have defeated the coronavirus.

“After defeating COVID in Kogi, priest Bello is miraculously turning bread to stone,” the former legislator wrote.

The Kogi state government says the tax on each load of bread sold is intended to protect indigenous bakers from those who “bring bread into the state without paying any tax.”
