Nigerian musician Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid, has spoken about his experience with police brutality in Nigeria.
This is following the national #EndSARs protest in Nigeria a few weeks ago with which the singer actively participated.
In an interview with Capital Xtra’s ‘The Norte Show’, Wizkid noted that he himself has been a victim of police brutality.
“Police brutality is a serious situation in Nigeria. It has been 60 years of political injustice, nepotism, insanity and corruption at the highest level.
It’s sad that my son is about to turn 10 years old and Nigeria is still going through all this madness. If I didn’t speak or use my voice, I’d be a coward. I will keep talking about things that affect people in their daily lives.
I had been a victim of police brutality before I became popular and I know that it still continues. That needs to end. We deserve good governance in Nigeria. “
