Gunmen Kidnap Chinese Expatriate And His Driver In Taraba As Youths Foil Another Kidnap Attempt

A Chinese expatriate and his driver have been abducted by suspected kidnappers in the Donga local government area of ​​Taraba state.


The Chinese national was said to be traveling on the Donga-Wukari highway with his driver in a pickup truck on Tuesday, November 24, when gunmen blocked the road and took them to an unknown destination.

It was learned that the kidnappers had contacted the Chinese company that has a base in the city of Donga to inform them that the victims are safe, but that they have not yet demanded ransom.

The spokesman for the State Police Command, DSP David Misal, confirmed the incident but declined to give further details.

In a similar development, an attempt by another group of kidnappers to kidnap a Chinese national on the same Tuesday was thwarted by youths in Mararaba-Baissa, the Donga local government area of ​​Taraba state.

The kidnappers reportedly tried to kidnap the Chinese national who was working on the construction of the 86 km Kurmi-Abong highway.

Young community vigilantes captured one of the suspects, pictured above, while others managed to escape.
