Gernot Rohr: It will take a miracle for Nigeria to win FIFA World Cup

Amaju Melvin Pinnick, president of the Nigerian Soccer Federation, has reaffirmed his support for embattled Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr despite growing calls for the German's immediate removal.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr says it will be some time before Nigeria can win the FIFA World Cup.

The German strategist stated this in an interview with News Central, where he highlighted the reasons why it will be difficult for the team to lift the trophy.

Recall that Rohr led Nigeria to the 2018 World Cup, where the team exited the group stage of the competition in a group consisting of Iceland, Argentina and Croatia.

“We are not ready to win the world cup, for various reasons,” Rohr told NewsCentral. The first reason for me is the organization.

“France is the champion at the moment, where is he playing? They are playing for PSG, Bayern Munich. Four of them are also world champions in their clubs.

“So when you have so many of your players from your countries playing for the best clubs, the probability that you also have one of the best teams in the world is very great.

“So what we have in Nigeria, for example, we have our players in Fulham, in West Bromwich. It is not Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester United or Barcelona. But the others have their players there.

“So it would be a miracle if we really won the world cup,” concluded Rohr.
