Suspected herdsmen have kidnapped passengers inside an 18-seater bus in Imo state.
20 people traveling to Enugu from Imo state were reportedly abducted by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
According to DAILY POST, the hijackers were operating along the Okigwe-Onuimo axis in the Okigwe LGA of Imo State.
One of the passengers who allegedly witnessed the incident said that the shepherds, disguised as policemen, intercepted the 18-seater bus in which they were traveling to Enugu and ordered three passengers to go to a nearby bush.
He said the shepherds also seized a Siena bus fully loaded with passengers, including the driver.
He said: “The Fulani herdsmen were armed and disguised as policemen at a checkpoint along the Okigwe highway.
“They handed us over and took three travelers from the 18-seater bus and all the travelers from a siena bus who were also going to Enugu.
“The worst thing is that there were no signs of security agents and there were no means available to contact them.
“As you can see, the lucky passengers are still in panic mode because no one knows where the others were taken,” he said.
Meanwhile, efforts to reach Imo State Police Public Relations Officer Bala Elkana were unsuccessful because his number could not be located.
