A tanker truck explosion claimed the life of a welder at a mechanical workshop in the Oyi local government area of Anambra state, IgbereTV reports.
The spokesman for the State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said that the explosion occurred on Saturday, November 28, around 2:30 p.m., in the mechanical workshop located along the new toll gate. off the road at Ogbunike.
“The incident took place when a welder named Richard ‘m’ with a still unknown last name was on top of an empty Fuel Mack truck with REG number XA-740-CAL trying to weld the top compartment. Suddenly the tanker exploded and threw the welder two hundred meters from the truck, leaving him unconscious, ”he said.
The scene was visited by police officers attached to the Ogbunike Division and the victim was rushed to Iyienu Hospital for treatment, where a doctor confirmed his death.
Since then, the body has been deposited in the hospital morgue pending an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
