Five Years Of Buhari Has Left Nigeria With Abundant Poverty And Insecurity – Afenifere

Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba group, has claimed that during the five years that President Buhari has ruled, the country has faced abject poverty and insecurity.

The group stated this in a statement issued in reaction to the recession in the Nigerian economy. The group in the statement signed by its National Advertising secretary, Yinka Odumakin, blamed President Buhari for the country’s economic situation, saying the country had become ungovernable under his administration.

“As Nigeria enters the worst recession in 33 years and Buhari’s second in five years, we are equally beset by concomitant poverty and worsening insecurity across the country with kidnappers, armed robbers and bandits lurking and the government defenseless and unable to govern effectively.

The truth is that the country had become virtually ungovernable and unless we restructure and restore Nigeria to federalism, the country is on the brink of collapse and God should save us from the worst case scenario. ” the statement read

In the statement, the group called on the Buhari-led government to now implement the 2014 conference report to save the country.

They also asked the president to immediately open all the southern borders of the country, which has been closed since August 2019.
