Eight NYSC Members Test Positive For Coronavirus In Bauchi

In what will seem like a rather surprising development, some NYSC members have tested positive for coronavirus.

According to The Nation, no fewer than eight members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) sent to the Wailo orientation camp in the Ganjuwa local government area of Bauchi tested positive for coronavirus.

In addition, two more people have died of suspected yellow fever, bringing the number of deaths recorded so far to 10 since the outbreak of the disease last week.

The information officer of the Bauchi Primary Health Care Agency, Ibrahim Sani, revealed them in a statement.

He said the agency president, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed, has instructed a surveillance team to carry out sample collection and investigation of all corps members receiving training at the camp to prevent a decline .

He added that the NYSC State Director has since assigned a waiting room for those suspected of being positive.

On yellow fever, the statement said that the health commissioner and the executive president of the agency have activated several response teams at the state and local government level.

He further stated that he has also held a series of meetings to highlight the magnitude of the new emerging cases.
