Chisom Chukwuneke Is Dead. Got 7 A1s In WASSCE (Obituary, Photos)

A teenager who scored 7A1 on the 2019 West African High School Certificate Exam (WASSCE) has died, IgbereTV reports.

Chisom Chukwuneke, got straight A in her entrance exam and turned out to be the best student at her school, Graceland College in Enugu last year. He then won numerous academic awards at his school.

Chisom was reportedly ill and already recovering before she died. A photo of her sitting on her hospital bed has been shared online. His obituary reveals that he died on October 18 in a South African hospital. She will be buried on Tuesday December 1 in Okpuno village, Umuogali, Oba, Idemili South Anambra state.

Chisom’s father, Professor Felix Chukwuneke, took to Facebook to mourn his passing. Narrating his experience before his passing, he wrote:

Like a dream.
But the realities are crystal clear now
Just a pain in the leg.
That turned into a devastating episode
The battle began in earnest
I heard you called dad, my leg hurts.
I look at you as you lie in bed with pain
As restless and worried as I can be
I promised to do everything humanly possible
With poor health care in Nigeria
we went to South Africa.

We look forward to your initial recovery.
Not knowing that the war was only about to begin
We fought together for more than a year in SA,
You were an incarnation of priceless intelligence
Above all an indefatigable personality
Brave in the face of obvious uncertainty.
You were strong and philosophical
My strength and motivation even in illness.
You wanted your dad to be free while you go to rest
In the bosom of our Lord
Where there is no pain
You spoke in parables about a special gift 10 days before,
and I left a day for my birthday.
I never knew your special birthday present
You promised it was your glorious departure.
You exhibited your virtuous and dazzling intellect,
to the amazement of the doctors at the Donald Gordon Wits Hospital Parktown Johannesburg South Africa
Today your name is written in gold there.

Like a bright light in the tunnel
have a dream for an African child,
with fewer privileges and opportunities like you,
to access good medical care.
This is your dream, I must assure
Forever the strong one has been you.
Physically no more but everywhere with us
We are with you, you are with us
Farewell to your glory Enyinnia
The daddy’s girl
Always in our hearts,
you will stay.

Prof. Felix Chukwuneke “

Mourning his passing, Graceland College Enugu wrote on his official Facebook page:

“Forever in our hearts!
You only stayed a moment, but what a mark you left in our Hall of Fame. A truly outstanding student! Rest in peace.
Rest in peace, Chisom! “
