Charly Boy Pens Open Letter To His Daughter To Apologize For How He Acted After She Came Out As Lesbian

Nigerian singer-songwriter Charly Boy Oputa has written an open letter to his daughter, apologizing for his actions after she revealed her sexuality to him.

Charly Boy had shared a post last week, saying that he is proud to have a lesbian daughter and fully supports her. But his daughter, Dewy Oputa, responded by saying that her father does not take her calls and that she was left homeless after she publicized her sexuality. She accused her father of using her to pursue his influence as father of the year online, not caring about anything in real life.

Charly Boy has now responded. He said he was amused by the public condemnation of his daughter because it is the same way that he and her father, former Supreme Court Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, collided before she could be independent.

“Lion does not fit goat born, ”He added.

He asked Dewy to forgive him and promised that he would allow him to tell his story and respect his perspectives.

He wrote:

“My dear Dewy,

I know the last few days may have been difficult for you, based on my post on Friday.

Just for parents ”on my Instagram.

I apologize if my post rubbed you the wrong way, for this I am deeply sorry my bad.

Excuse me.

But honestly

I was talking to parents trying to make them understand that they can only give good advice or put their children on the right path, but the final formation of a person’s character is in their own hands.

I went into parenting the way most of us did: not knowing anything, but trying to learn everything, fellows, they don’t go, they don’t know.

The journey of parenthood is an emotional roller coaster, filled with happiness, sadness, worry, frustration, pride, excitement, and much more. Parenting is an incredible adventure.

When people tell me they attack me on social media, I just laugh.

Dey laff bcos Na, so I board my dad before I get my independence. Unborn lion fit goats. Never forget that Oputa’s are very special people, and I see myself in you.

Since Saturday morning I have received thousands of phone calls from parents and youth who feel disconnected from their parents. His testimony has been quite revealing.

I was only able to offer a listening ear and reassuring words, but I feel higher because our story inspired thousands.

That is good.

My dear, I promise to let you tell your story as I have been able to tell mine. I respect their perspectives and understand them. I raised them all as Global Kids and not as shy village champions.

Let’s go back to the friendship we’ve been working on.

I love you and nobody can compete, not even you.
