President Buhari has increased the number of N-Power beneficiaries from 500,000 to 1,000,000.
Nigeria online news reports that President Buhari has directed an immediate increase in the number of beneficiaries of the National Social Investment Programs.
Buhari also ordered the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to increase the number of N-Power beneficiaries from 500,000 to 1,000,000.
President Buhari also ordered an increase in the number of Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program (GEEP) beneficiaries by 1,000,000 and an increase in the number of local school feeding beneficiaries by 5,000,000.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, broke the news on Monday during a ministerial press conference to give an account of her ministry in the last year in Abuja.
She said: “In an attempt to realize Mr. President’s commitment to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in the next 10 years, the ministry places a significant emphasis on youth empowerment by strategically determining the participation of young people as a fundamental objective in the implementation of the following strategies: duplicate the scope of the National Social Investment Programs.

The minister said that around 3.7 million households comprising more than 15.5 million people have been captured in the National Social Registry.
He said the ministry has developed a strategy to target the urban poor in accordance with President Buhari’s directive to expand the National Social Registry.
“In advocating for social inclusion, deliberate efforts were made to engage youth and vulnerable groups including women, people with special needs, in expanding the National Social Registry by one million households. In addition, in the Economic Sustainability Plan, we have more than 1,000,000 urban poor in the National Social Registry.
“As of June 2020, 4.41% of the total number of people registered in the National Social Registry are recognized as people with special needs. There are a total of 685,090 people with special needs in the National Social Registry.
“Approximately 3.7 million households comprising more than 15.5 million people have been included in the National Social Registry. Of that number, more than 2.8 million households comprising 13.5 million people are eligible for the conditional cash transfer. These numbers are distributed in the 36 states and FCT. The figures break down further into 7.6 million men and 7.9 million women, as shown on the screen, ”he said.
