The Borno state government has refuted reports claiming that there was another attack by Boko Haram against Governor Babagana Zulum and his security details.
Zulum spokesman Isa Gusau, in a statement on Sunday, said that Zulum traveled to Baga on Saturday, spent the day overseeing food distribution to 5,000 residents and returned safely to Maiduguri.
Gusau noted that while in Baga, its director evaluated major reconstruction and resettlement efforts without a hitch.
“As members of the public can testify, it is Professor Zulum’s culture and principle to tell it like it is. In this case, it is what it is, without any attack.
Any media organization that wants further clarification can contact the Nigerian military. “
Gusau expressed Zulum’s gratitude to all Nigerian supporters.
“He gratefully congratulated the Armed Forces, Police and civilian volunteers for the tireless efforts to fully restore lasting peace in Borno state,” the statement added.
