The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has suspended House Secretary Owudugo Kozigene for three months on charges of gross misconduct.
Assistant Secretary Kent Adogu was appointed to act in Kozigene’s place for the duration of the suspension.
The motion for Kozigene’s suspension was proposed by the legislator representing Brass Constituency 2, Timi Agala-Omubo, who cited “infringements of certain privileges and rights of members.”
Agala-Omubo said: “The secretary was accused of having acted incorrectly when, out of insubordination, he refused to collaborate with the leadership or the House finance team on a matter related to the House budget for 2021.”
The motion, which was seconded by Godbless Oyinke (Sagbama 1), was adopted unanimously by the legislators by voice vote.
The spokesman, Abraham Ingobere, subsequently formed a three-member committee headed by Bernard Kenebai, to investigate the allegations against the suspended secretary and report back within two weeks.
