The UK Chapter of the Congress of All Progressives (APC) has described Governor David Umahi as a great asset who will add value to the party.
A statement on Monday from the UK Chapter Party Publicity Secretary Jacob Ogunseye said that Umahi’s defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to APC has confirmed the party’s relevance in the South East.
He said the governor’s defection to APC was coming home, describing it as bold, strategic and determined.
“As things stand today, APC remains the strongest party in the country and will continue to win elections in a free and fair contest,” he said.
Ogunseye revealed that the Party’s UK chapter plans to formally welcome Umahi to the APC through a virtual meeting where she will speak with Nigerians from the diaspora about their infrastructure development in Ebonyi.
He added that Umahi would also take the opportunity to inform Diaspora Nigerians about his plans for the party in Ebonyi.
“Umahi’s defection is a demonstration of the dominance and acceptance of the party in the southeast and the country as a whole,” Ogunseye said.
He said that with Umahi joining the progressives, he had set a record of envy for himself, urging leaders and members to support him.
“The governor should regard his new party as home and associate freely, he should dismiss the opinions of opponents and see it as normal in Nigerian politics.
“We all knew what happened in Ebonyi in the last few years, we all know how the state has developed from the low level where it knew it, to where it is now in terms of development,” he said.
