Aisha Buhari breaks silence on abductions of schoolgirls, women

The president's wife, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, through her foundation, 'Future Assured', has donated 16 trucks of assorted food for distribution to 500,000 households in Kano State.

First Lady Aisha Buhari has lamented the continued mass abductions of women and girls by bandits and insurgents, especially in the north.

Aisha, in a statement on the occasion of International Women’s Day published on her official Twitter account @aishambuhari, said: “As a mother, I share the pain and agony of the victims and their families.”

“I am also not unaware of the impact that these abductions could have in reversing many of the successes we have achieved so far, especially in terms of girls’ education and early marriages.”

However, he called on all stakeholders to exert their different levels of influence to end the mass kidnappings.

While appreciating the efforts of women and girls in the fight against COVID-19, she noted that the pandemic has had a major impact on women, disrupting education, careers, and the proliferation of domestic violence.

He urged everyone that beyond spreading the message of the COIVD-19 protocol, they must remember and support those negatively affected by the pandemic.
