The governor of Abia state, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has debunked rumors circulating that he plans to defect from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Speaking on a monitored radio show in Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu said he has seen no reason why he should leave the PDP for another party.
In response to a question on the matter, the governor pointedly said: “I don’t see any reason why I should leave the PPD for another political party. The music of politics that is played differs from state to state. Here at Abia, people are comfortable with the PDP and I believe that Ndi Abia’s aspirations will be fulfilled and achieved under the PDP platform. “
Continuing, the governor emphasized that “nobody has been able to convince me that there is a better party for us here in Abia than the PPD. I am a strong member of the PDP and a leader of the party. In fact, I am the vice president of the PDP Governors Forum ”, adding that“ I would rather be the driver of a moving vehicle than the driver of a stationary vehicle ”.
